Memories - Remarkable Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to the Remarkables blog hop!  This month the theme is Memories...
I've been enjoying using my Project Life by Stampin' Up! stuff to keep my photos in order.  Just a fun fact, I have 22 years of photo books!  No kidding!  I've always kept up with my photos.  It's like a strange source of pride for me.  People can say, remember when you went on that trip in 1999, and I'm like yeah, give me a minute and out comes the book!  I've kept up with the photos lots of different ways.  I used the "magnetic" books way back, the ones with the thin lines of adhesive and the plasticy thin covers, I used to write the bits of info on pieces of paper and put them in with the pictures.  Then came the era of the scrapbook!  Things were going well, then three kids... yoga teaching..., here's the true confession--there is one missing year!  It just didn't get done.

So I switched to the slide the picture in albums.  Not ideal, but it was important for me to keep up with the photos.  I'm not proud of them but the photos are there and I'm content.  And then I found Project Life.  I Love it!  And the cute little already made cards from Stampin' Up! are awesome!! And there are all kinds of apps and little printers.  I think photo books have taken a good turn.

OK, I could go on, but this post actually has nothing to do with photo albums.  OK, maybe just a little.  I actually made a cute little mini photo book.  (ha ha, get it, it's little) Super sweet and super awesome and super easy to make.

And here's the inside.  Now this is IMPORTANT!, here's where you put the pictures.  You have to PRINT them out and use some adhesive and stick them in the book!  That's why it's mini!! So you'll actually do it and you can say you made the whole thing!

OK, now to help you out, I made my first ever crafty yogi video.  I did, really!  And in my attempt to make it easy, I filmed it with my iPhone and uploaded the video to Youtube.  (we won't say if this was actually easy or not, but I did it all by myself--with a little help from Google and some Starbucks internet).  Now this is my first, and I'll admit that I need to work on the camera angle and a few other things, but in general, I'm pleased.  It's a bit long, about 20 minutes, so I won't mind if you fast forward occassionaly.  But I hope it helps you and you make one of these cute little books, which you will then fill with pictures!  I'm hoping to follow this post with a how to print the pictures and what apps I use video.

Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop, It's Remarkable!

Okay, so really the moving is done!  Long story, short:  We moved from Virginia from a house of 14 years to a rental townhouse, while our big townhouse was being built.  We had stuff in the rental, stuff in storage, and stuff at my parents.  Apparently if you are a crafter AND a book lover, (and part of a family of 5 in which there are other book lovers, a lego fanatic, and many movie lovers).  YOU HAVE A LOT OF STUFF!  So by Sunday all my stuff will be in my house, but I'll be working on where it all goes for awhile.  Hopefully I'll have my stampin' space working pretty soon.

Anyhow, right before I started the big packing, I made this super cute card for a swap AND it features Sale-A-Bration items, which is the theme for this months blog hop.  So hear you go, let me know how you like it!

 

The card features the Celebrations Catalog stamp set called Big On You and that cute little yay! banner stamp came from the Sale-A-Bration freebie called You Brighten My Day.  The colors are Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate and Bermuda Bay, I used the Blendabilities to color in the letters that were stamped in Momento Black ink.

A Card for Your Guy

Sometimes you just want to tell him you love him. Maybe just randomly, no special occasion needed. Here is a great card for that!

This card features the colors: whisper white, pool party, gold, and some basic black.  These are the colors (minus the black) in the Can You Case It? Color Challenge.

Love Is In the Air, Remarkables Blog Hop

Valentine, my sweet valentine... alright, let's get down to business!

 

Isn't this the cutest thing ever??  This Wood You Be Mine? stamp set is in the new Occasions Catalog from Stampin' Up!  And maybe you don't know this, but I love puns and plays on words, so I could not resist!  I went a bit all out on this card, but I think it was worth it.

Here is a list of the supplies used:

Wood You Be Mine? stamp set, Naturals White CS, Old Olive CS (both have their edges sponged in Crumb Cake ink) Crumb Cake and Old Olive, and skin assortment Blendabilities, blender pen, gold ink, Real Red, Old Olive, Garden Green, and Early Espresso ink pads, and some Early Espresso seam binding ribbon.

The secret to having just part of the cute bearded guy is that I used a sponge dauber to put the ink on the stamp, so that I could just get a bit of the image.

Alrighty, my next card (2 versions shown) features no stamping!!  My goodness, how can it be done?  Well, take a look!

 

I was inspired by the December Paper Pumpkin kit (do you get these yet?  If not, ask me about them, they're awesome!)  I wanted to make a shaker card, with hearts and sequins.  So now take a look at the 2nd version, and you must comment and let me know which one you like best.

Tie One On, Remarkable Blog Hop

Hello again!  For our December Blog Hop, the Remarkables chose the theme, Tie One On.  I took to this topic quite liberally, and not in libations, but in creations!

So, as you may know, we moved this summer.  But what you may not know is that during the moving process we packed up a bunch of stuff at the end of March and put it in storage.  We originally thought we'd be moved in my the end of November or early December.  So if you we're packing things up way back in the Spring, what might you put away?  Your Christmas decorations!!!  Ahhh! I have no Christmas decorations!  Fortunately, the tree was stored at my parents and I was able to get it.  So what does a crafty yogi do??  She breathes and reminds herself that this too shall pass, and then she gets to creating!

We'll start with some ornaments!

 

 *2 1/2 circle punch, tree punch, under the tree specialty DSP, trim the tree, DSP stack, vintage button

 *circle framelits, circle punches, word window punch, heart and star punches, glimmer paper, "arms" are fall fest stampset and framelits, pearls colored with black sharpie.

Then I saw an idea for a luminaries from Brenda Bishop and I made some of them!

Then, I looked around at my messy crafting area and was like "I must do something with all these trees!"  I present (ha ha!) to you some gift tags!

Next I needed something pretty to decorate the shelves and I saw something like this on Pinterest and look what I made!!

These trees feature the typeset specialty DSP cut into 1 1/2 x 6 inch strips, then cut with our fringe scissors, then you curl the pieces around a pencil.  Attach to your foam cone with straight pins.  Cut the paper to smaller lengths as you go.  Top with a pretty bow.

Give Thanks, Remarkable Blog Hop

My "Give Thanks" ideas start with a Thanksgiving card.  I made a bunch of these as my family is far away.  The cards will be going to California, Utah, Colorado, Virginia and North Carolina.  I'm still in love with the Fall Fest stamp set and matching framelits, and the 14/15 in colors, so both are featured here.  Can you guess what stamp is in the background??  (It's in the Everything Elenor set)

 

My second project features a gift pack of 4 winter thank you notecards.  Give this to someone and they can "Give Thanks" for all the awesome gifts and meals they recieve.

This project uses the snowflakes from the Many Merry Stars stamp set (from the holiday supplement) and the Another Thank You stamp set.  Colors are Pool Party, Soft Sky, Real Red, and Silver.  The ribbon is retired, but any maching ribbon will work.

And here is a super quick how to for the folder:

 

 

Cut CS 9 X5 3/4, score at 4 1/4 from each end.  With some of the leftover, you'll make the pouch for the inside.

The CS is cut to 5 X 2 3/4, scored at 4 3/4 and 4 1/4 from each side.  The bottom is scored at 2 1/2 and 2 1/4.  Use your bone folder to crease all your score lines.  Then cut out the outside 3 blocks on each side.  Use sticky strip or tombo to stick the pouch to the folder.  Cut your ribbon to 20 inches and put on with glue dots.  Someone will give thanks to you and to others with this gift!!

Winter Holidays, Remarkable Blog Tour

 I was pretty excited that the Remarkables Blog Hop theme was winter holidays this month, as I was preparing for some of my Manassas stampin' friends to come up to my new place in Frederick to make Christmas cards.  I am so happy they made the drive as I haven't quite gotten things going here with classes yet.

Now I can share with you the cards we made.  Most were inspired by things I saw on Pinterest and the Stampin' Up! holiday catalog.  This catalog, I can say it no other way is Amazing!  So here we go!

I saw lots of variations on this one, but I was mostly inspired by Michelle Suit's version.  This set, White Christmas is all kinds of fun and can let you color your little heart out.

This one is one of my favorites.  The stamp set is called Ornamental Pine.  Here I went with Lost Lagoon and Cherry Cobbler.  The key I found was to stamp off the pine bough once before stamping it on the card stock in Lost Lagoon ink, which helped when you got to the versmark and the embossing.  For the snow, I used one of the very versatile stamps from Gorgeous Grunge!

 Card number three also has white embossing.  It features the Bright and Beautiful stamp set.

 But I want to showcase how it was very sweet and simple and then I stepped it up a notch.  As you can see above, some Crumb Cake card stock, three stamped and embossed stars cut out with our stars framelits (attached with dimensionals) and some pretty real red ribbon.  The greeting is from the Good Greetings hostess set,(available free with a $300 purchase until 10/31).  I really liked the card, but then my creative juices started flowing...

 Look what a little dry embossing to the background layer can do!!  And look even closer, do you see glitter?

Here's a closer look.

This set is called Festival of Trees and there is a tree punch available to make it easy to cut out the trees.  I used some gold encore ink to enhance the super awesome gold satin ribbon.

And finally, a very quick and simple take on the amazing stamp set called Wondrous Wreath, there are coordinating framelits with this set and wow have I seen some amazing ideas, but I wanted to keep this last card super easy.
