A Few Of My Favorite Things

Today I'm sharing a few of my favorite things. Some old and some new.

We'll start with all things birthday. I've always loved celebrating birthdays. You get cards in the mail, presents, and cake! Did I say cake? I love homemade cake with the traditional crisco or buttercream icing. I love it so much, I can only make it occasionally (or I'd eat way too much and it's really not part of the healthy food groups). So in my house it shows up on birthdays.

I'm hosting a birthday card making class soon, and I came up with a really cool idea on how to store and sort all our lovely handmade cards. I'll share some photos today and I'm hoping to make a tutorial next week, so check back then. I call it the Birthday Card Book. It's a 6x6 book made up of 12 pockets, one for each month so that you can file away the cards you make AND then you'll know where they are so you can do the important part of getting them in the mail.

Here's the front, which you can decorate any way you like. I covered the light weight cardboard that comes in our DSP packs. I used binder circles ( I don't really know what they're called) to hold it together.

The inside is minimally decorated as I want to have plenty of space to write down the birthdays on each month.

There are 12 pockets, and each can hold 3-4 cards. I think on the next go round, I'll add a ribbon so that you can tie it closed.

Here is the link to the blogpost with the instructions. There's a video to help you out too!

Next up are a few cute birthday cards to fill up your book.

If you're looking for a super cute mini box to put a gift in, check out this box, I learned how to make it from my demonstrator friend Pesci. She adapted it from one she saw on Pinterest. I absolutely love it and see many small cake and hat boxes in my future.

Leaving birthday's behind, I want to share a card intended for Valentine's day, but really it could be used for almost any occasion, depending on what you put inside.

And finally, I'll share a peek into my Project Life by Stampin' Up! scrapbooking. I had two weddings this past Fall and I'm having fun getting the pages done quick and cute with the Love Story bundle.

I like to scrapbook in the living room when we watch TV. Which besides a little mess is a good thing. But my sweet little dog is not always such a fan.

This is her giving me a sad face as she thinks her spot should be next to me and there is too much stuff in the way.

This is her squeezing into the small space I made next to me.

Thanks for visiting my blog today and seeing a few of my favorite things.
Stay Crafty!

Wondering, did you ever post a tutorial for the card organizer in the top 3 pics of this post? Would love to see how you made it. I have some ideas, but it's always nice to see a tutorial to make sure I don't miss an important detail of it's construction. Link please. :) TFS!
