A Summer Sampler, Fun with Framed Art

Hi Crafty Friends!
It's Summer on the East Coast, and for our Sampler Class this month I wanted to celebrate all that's fun and wonderful about Summer.
It took me a little bit to get things just as I liked, but I am very happy with the final project.

Here are the measurements:

Large rectangle: Whisper White, 2" x 7 1/8", Blushing Bride, 2 1/4" x 7 3/8", Whisper White, 2 3/8" x 7 1/2"
Small rectangle: Whisper White, 2" x 41/2", Tropical Escape DSP, 2 1/4" x 4 3/4", Blushing Bride, 2 3/8" x 4 7/8"
Squares: Whisper White and Tropical Escape DSP, 2" x 2", Whisper White and Tropical Escape DSP, 2 1/4" x 2 1/4", Blushing Bride, 2 3/8" x 2 3/8"

The background: Granny Apple Green, 8 1/4" x 8 1/4", Daffodil Delight, 8 1/2" x 8 1/2", Whisper White, 9" x 9"

Let's take a closer look at each of the elements:

Of course, the Large Letters Framelits are the star of the show. I used Daffodil Delight card stock for the letters and I popped them up with our foam strips. I stamped the background piece with the Tropical Chic stamp set. I used Granny Apple Green (full strength and stamped off) and Shaded Spruce. The flowers are stamped in Blushing Bride.

I tried to celebrate summer while not being beachy as we did a beachy sampler earlier in the summer. But I couldn't resist making a little beach scene with the Waterfront stamp set. And I inked up my lightening bug (or firefly) stamp from the Jar of Love set for the first time. Anyone else remember catching them and putting them in a jar as a kid?

I was really excited about using this cute new Treehouse Adventure stamp set. It has lots of pieces, but they went together pretty easily. Two of the leaf "bunches" can be die cut with the Up and Away thinlits. Cool deal!

The section I had the most fun with was the lemonade and fruit section.

Isn't this the cutest? I used the Coffee Cafe set with it's coordinating framelits. I colored the lemonade with our Stampin' Blends (Daffodil Delight). Then had fun making lemons and limes.

My suggestion for making samplers, if you're using shadow box frames like me, (this one is 9" x 9" from Michael's) is to Dimensional away! Have fun with different heights.

Here's a few more pics to enjoy.

I really enjoy planning and making these samplers. Sometimes they come together real quick and sometimes I need to play with them a bit. For example, I started with the letters in Blushing Bride.

So have fun exploring and playing with your card stock and stamps. Need help picking out supplies or ordering? Let me know, I am happy to help. And remember for the month of July, lots of our lovely Designer Series papers are on sale, buy 3 get 1 free.
