Freshly Made Sketches #154

Short and quick today.  I wanted to share my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I made this cute little card to send to my niece (OK, really her parents) for her very first birthday.  I just love birthdays, how special they make kids feel is so awesome.

The card features Hello Honey and Crisp Cantaloupe card stock and inks.  The stamp sets are Sketched Birthday and Zoo Review.

Scary Fun, Remarkables Blog Hop

I'm sure it might be so terribly commercial, but I love the change of seasons.  I like going to the store and seeing all the cute Halloween and Fall things this time of year.  I try not to buy very much, especially that the last few years I haven't even put decorative things out!!  However, I did come home from Khol's last week with three Halloween hand towels, and they're washed and waiting another week or so to appear in the bathroom.  And I did handle a bag of candy corn, but I had to put it back!  I only allow myself to buy ONE bag at the beginning of October and when it's gone, it's gone!

Okay, I'm sure you came here to see my scary fun projects!  All my cards feature the Holiday Home stamp set and the matching framelits--buy the bundle and save 15%, woohoo! I originally bought this set thinking of Christmas cards and because the tall house looks like the house we're having built. But, can you say "Fall Fest stamp set on backorder?" So I dove on in after a few laps around Pinterest!

And WOW! and I am pretty happy with what came out! The colors for all the cards are: Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Elegant Eggplant,Early Expresso, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray.

I call this one the Halloween Sampler Card. I just love all the little bits of iconic Halloween images.  Especially that teeny tiny spider!


Here's the Spooky House Card.  Isn't it cool how I punched out the moon so you can get the yellow from the whole piece of card stock behind?
And just in case you're not into Scary Fun, here is a sweet little card featuring a fall tree and falling leaves.  The greeting is from the Good Greetings Hostess Set (FREE with a $300 workshop).

New Beginnings, Remarkable Blog Hop

It's that inspirational time again!  For our blog hop this month, the theme is new beginnings.  And not much could be "newer" than a new baby!  So my card today is a congratulations on your new baby card.

 
 This card features card stock in smoky slate, pear pizzaz, and pool party.  I used the Big News stamp set and the Itty Bitty Baby set.  And I am still in love with that banner punch!! I used Blendabilities to color the baby face and the duck.  You definately want to have your stamp a ma jig handy to put the images neatly into the banners.  Check out a close up of that cute little baby face.

Summer Fun, Remarkables Blog Hop

The topic for July's Remarkables Blog Hop is Summer Fun.  Boy, am I ready for some summer fun.  Since April, I have been focused on prepping and selling our home of 14 years, finding a 6 month rental in the neighborhood we're moving to, keeping the boys focused on finishing out the school year well, graduating my oldest son from high school, moving into said rental--doing it all ourselves, with the help of my Dad, settling into the rental, taking care of many of the changes that need to happen when you move, and trying to get things done in regards to the college that my son will be attending in the Fall!  Wow!  It's quite a lot when you list it all out like that.  I am ready for some summer fun!  And fortunately, we go on a beach vacation next week!

Crafting wise, I was a bit stumped on Summer fun at first.  So I decided to keep it simple with a few cards.  Then I thought of the bike rides we would be doing next week, and I was like, "we have a stamp for that!" This stamp is in a really cool hostess set called Life's Adventure, that you can purchase for $10 with a $150 purchase. I love all the stamps in the set, so you'll probably be seeing more from it in the future.


This card features some summery colors, Costal Cabana and Crushed Curry, and the bike is colored in with one of SU's new Blendabilities pens in Pumpkin Pie. I made a mask with two sizes of punches for the big dots, the zig zag comes from the Work of Art stamp set and it's all topped off with a bit of Washi Tape!

Card number two features the cute little sea birds from the Wetlands stamp set.  Nothing says "beach" quite like those little guys!


This card started with the birds and was inspired by two new rolls of ribbon that were sitting on my craft table.  The seam binding ribbon is so versatile.  Night of Navy and Calypso Coral are the colors.  I  wanted to fill things up a bit, so I experimented with the new Polymer stamp set called Dotty Angles.  It is pretty nice, yes?  I stamped the color off once to lighten it a bit.  I sewed the ribbons across the sponge daubered (that might be a word!) doily and added bits of ribbons and strips of sequins to the back of the greeting (see the dots there too?)  Our new fast fuse adhesive made that all possible!  Sahara Sand is the stamping base card stock.  I think this is a bit more vintage for me, it's nice to change up your style every once and a while.

Thank You!

So, we are moved into our rental home, and mostly settled. And after I got most of the kitchen squared away, I arranged my craft area.  We won't talk in depth about what the bedroom looks like!

My fingers were itchy to make something so I thought I would start with thank you cards.  I am planning to send bunches of them out to thank all my wonderful yoga students for their gifts and cards.

I started with a sketch challenge to get the crafty fires burning, and made this card inspired by the Paper Craft Crew's sketch challenge (number 100, how cool is that?).

And here's my card, the new SU in-colors are so hard to resist! So I didn't!


Then, later I was feeling like I needed to play with some blendabilities and color.  So I used this hostess set and some pinterest inspiration (the masking idea) and this cute card was born.


Then, (don't you just love when there's time and more creative ideas happen?) I got out the Everything Eleanor stamp set that I just got before we moved and this pretty card was made.

Shapes and More Shapes--Remarkable!

So shapes are the theme this month.  Therefore my cards are brought to you by squares and rectangles! See the scored lines on the cake card?  Pretty nifty!!

Our move is getting closer!  I will soon be packing my crafty stuff up for a bit.  So glad I had time to make these cards!  Happy Crafting!



Just a note, the new blendabilities markers are pretty awesome!!  Can't wait till their available for everyone to order.
So now back to life!!  My son is graduating from high school this Saturday and I begin packing in earnest on Sunday for our big move to Maryland next weekend!!  Whew!

Creativity in the Midst of Turmoil

Studio before and afters!!  I am a super messy crafter!

I think I may have mentioned that we are moving to be closer to my husband's job.. if not, we are.  So things have been a bit busy and crafting (and blogging) had been on the back burner.  Things we're finally settling down a bit and my class participants we're hoping and asking for one more class before things are all packed up and we move.  So amazing as I am, I gave them TWO classes.  And it was super awesome and I am going to miss them all so much!!  I am finally starting to grow this business just a bit and now I'm moving!

Anyway, keeping things short and sweet (as I've gotta help my daughter get things packed to move her back to college for a summer research position (they're going to pay her!!)) I'll let the pictures and captions do the talking!!

Using the super awesome new in colors, this is card one, which I also used as my swap at a team meeting.  I really like it, but it was not a fave at the class.





This one was the most liked I think.  Everyone loved the Flowering Flourishes stamp set, and the bright colors.

I just want to note for the record, that this blogger thing is not working correctly!!  Super frustrating so I am just going to post the pictures!!!  My computer may actually be possesed by demons!
